Cathy told me that early on she was agonizing a little over some aspect of the site and how it might be perceived by others, when her daughter Kiera said to her, “Remember Mom, this site is for YOU. If others read it ... great, but when the trip’s over and done, this is something that you’ll have to remember it all. So do it the way it works for YOU.”
Brilliant!
Of course, it’s great to know that others seem to be enjoying it as well.
Although it’s fun to update it with blogposts like this one, it can also be a little bit of a chore, particularly after riding 65 miles ... day after day.
We’ve been taking tons of pictures and videos, but it’s also a challenge to continually add those to the site. Recently though, I did just that, with a bunch of videos. Many of them are probably silly or mundane on their own ... lots of them with very similar shots of a couple of us riding, albeit with an ever-changing background. But collectively we hope that they capture and then remind us of what we will have experienced for sixty days or so.
There’s also a few mediocre ones where we tried to capture something fleeting along the way ... be it a waterfall, a few wild turkeys, or an Amish guy with horse and buggy (his name was Henry, the horse was Brenda). Of course, there have been so many stories-within-the-story that the ones we’ve missed far outweigh the number we’ve recorded.
We’re clearly not religious about keeping everything in chronological order, but I did reorder some of those videos a little bit that way. So if you haven’t checked out the earlier ones recently, there could be some new stuff there. If so, we hope you enjoy them ... we know we will.
