The last time we posted was October 2019, finishing our cross country cycling adventure, Anacortes to Bar Harbor. Fast forward through Co Vid, Boomer, Robbo and I had seen each other couple times but the original Team C2C has not been together since then. I’ve had my eye on riding the Pacific Coast for several years. This fall I bought the Adventure Cycling maps for that route and floated the idea to the guys.
ME: Hey guys, I have another wild ass idea…I bought the AC maps for the Pacific Coast, Canada to So Cal. Whatddya think? Anyone up for another cycling adventure?
ROBBO: If you’ve got the maps, I’ve got the RV…(aka Vic)
ME: Really???? SWEET!!!
And, as they say…the rest is history…
A few email exchanges re: dates and the original team was available for the month of May.
A couple of phone calls to Sam Harper, our guru and mapping inspiration for our XC trip, and voila!, Team C2C doubled in size. With the addition of Sam, Tom Lee (both CC freshmen with me, Robbo, Tex and Boomer) and Sam’s childhood friend Michael, our collective friendships span almost, and in some cases, over 50 years.
Rob, Tex and I took off from Durango the end of April, destination Bellingham, WA. Boomer and Cindy, aka Mrs. Boom, met us there at our VRBO along with my son Colten and his wife Lety.
May 1st : KICKOFF
Peace Arch on the Canadian border in Blaine WA. A heartfelt tribute to our CC friends from Canada, in particular George “Peach” Nickerson who joined us for a Canadian leg on our Coast 2 coast adventure.
Day 1 Blaine to Bayview
Day 2 Bayview to Port Townsend
What was automatic 3 yrs and 9 months ago, feels a little clumsy, but it’s coming back to us… protein drinks, power bars, tail lights, Garmins, bike lube, tire pressure, “The Spot”…
What doesn’t feel clumsy is being back on the bike… reading maps, getting lost, getting found, working together, acknowledging precious friendships and seeing the country, truly SEEING the country at 15 mph… We highly recommend it…
Tailwinds,
Cathy aka C2
